Incidentals

Alex and Jenni's Site

Our Story part 2

April 2003

Jenni's flight was due to land at Heathrow Terminal 5:20 am April 3rd. The night before Alex couldn't sleep. He was so excited, 9 weeks of anticipation had built up to a moment that was only a few hours away. What if they didn't get on in person, what if there wasn't chemistry? Webcams only show so much, what if either of them was disapointed? Well he set his alarm for 3:00 am, tried getting to sleep at 9:00 pm, at 1:30 am he was still awake. The next thing he knew it was 5:00 am and the taxi was outside. Luckily he already had his stuff ready, he threw on some clothes and ran downstairs to the taxi.

Alex got to the airport and was only waiting about 5 minutes before Jenni came through the arrivals gate. As soon as she was through the gate they had their arms around each other and were kissing for the first time. Jenni as shaking so much she could barely stand up so they got out of people's way and found a place to sit. Jenni commneted that other than the sign saying 'Lift to Underground' she could almost be back at Logan. In his rush, Alex hadn't had breakfast, so he went to Starbucks to get something to eat. He kept looking back at Jenni and exchanging goofy grins and blowing kisses. She then phoned her folks using Alex's mobile phone as the phonecard dispenser wouldn't take her £5 note.

It was then 7:30 and they went outside to find the coach. When Jenni's Mom had asked how she would manage with the heavy suitcase on the coach, she had smiled and thought of Alex who her Mom didnt know about. When Alex heard this he smiled, and thought of how he coach was right outside the terminal and how the driver would load and unload the luggage. The coach journey to Coventry went quickly by, with the two of them happily snuggled up next to each other. Jenni was tired from the overnight flight and tried to sleep some but she was too excited. Alex, on the other hand (as Jenni would soon know is normal for him) was able to fall asleep, so Jenni looked out the coach windows and tried to get used to feeling like they were on the wrong side of the road!

They reached the bus station in Coventry and got a taxi to the Royal Court hotel. Jenni spent most of the ride looking out the windows and thinking "the houses look just like on Changing Rooms and Ground Force!". They got Jenni checked in and Alex walked her upstairs to her room. Finally they were alone together for the first time, and despite their concerns they certainly had plenty of chemistry. However (despite what the front desk clerk may have thought), prior to Jenni's flight, they had both discussed their thoughts about a physical relationship and had decided to wait. Alex then headed to visit his grandparents and Jenni took a nap before their first date later that day.

After her nap, Jenni fussed about and got ready for their date, taking extra pains to look especially good. Eventually she went downstairs to wait for Alex, and was chatting with fellow Red Dwarf fans. Alex got a lift to the Royal Court from his Mum, which was slightly worrying as she didn't know about Jenni. Once he arrived, the two of them headed off to go out to eat, walking hand in hand and with frequent stops to kiss. They had a great time having dinner at the Orange House; Alex had Gammon steak and Jenni had Lasagna that was slightly different than what she was used to but tasty. After dinner they were going to go to see the film Chicago, but there was a mixup about the times so they ended up going back to the Orange House for a drink and were being all snuggled up and kissing in a booth. After Alex got Jenni back to the Royal Court, he missed the last bus over to his parents' as they spent too long saying goodnight and had to walk the hour and ten minutes there, as he was not checking into the hotel for the convention until the following day.

The next day Alex met Jenni at the hotel and checked in. He then took her into Coventry to show her the sights. Despite rumors to the contrary, they spent the day sightseeing, and saw the cathedrals and the statue of Lady Godiva, as well as some of the shops. Around 4pm, they headed back to the hotel and met Alex's friend Scott. Then they signed in for the convention and retired to their respective rooms to freshen up and get ready for the evening.

Saturday was spent at the covention getting autographs and meeting members of the cast etc. Since Scott doesn't eat breakfast, Alex & Jenni were able to eat their first breakfast togther alone. Jenni was slightly put off by the look of the back puddng Alex had with his, and that was before he told her what it was. After a couple of question and answer sessions with the Red Dwarf cast, it was lunch time. Lunch was enjoyed sitting outside in the grounds of the Royal Court. That evening was spent at the convention disco where Alex and Jenni were too preocupied with each other to be doing any dancing.

By the time Sunday came around they were both very tired. After the convetion finshed they shared a taxi into town with Scott, then began the journey into London where Jenni had aranged to spend the following week. Despite some trouble with the tube they eventually arrived at the Hyde Park Hilton, where they said goodnight in the lobby, and Alex got the tube home alone. At this point Alex was still at University so he managed to spend most of that week with Jenni showing her the sights of London. Monday morning they met at the hotel, then proceeded to the Madame Tussauds waxwork museum in Baker street. After spending some time taking photos they attempted to find the planeterium. It turned out to be rather dissapointing and Disneyfied. It was fun kissng in the dark though ;) Alex had boooked tickets for Phantom of the Opera for that evening but Jenni didn't know what he had planned. Suffice to say they both enjoyed themselves.

Tuesday morning Alex did some work on his disertaion and Jenni looked around the shops in London. That afternoon they met up after lunch- Alex finishing the rest of Jenni's pizza - and took an open top bus tour of London. Both of them found this informative and interesting, although the commentry switchted to French at one point. They had planned for Jenni to vistit him after his lectures the follwing day and meet some of his freinds. They went back to his place so she could see how to get there. Origanly they had planned to go out for a meal but ended up ordering pizza and having a quite night in. Was still anoyning when Jenni had to go back to the hotel of course.

Meeting the following day went as planned and they had a lovely picnic lunch, even if it did rain and they had to have it inside. Jenni read in the libbary while Alex had his last lecture. Then they went back to Alex's place where Alex had a nap and Jenni got ready and surfed the net. Once Alex had woken up they went down to Southal to meet Alex's freinds' for Jenni's first curry. Although the menu was sligtly overwhelming she enjoyed it and got on well with his freinds. After the meal they went to his freinds house to watch a film.

Jenni wanted to go to the seaside so Alex took her down to Brighton, it rained of course but they had a good time. They walked along the Beach and spent some time on one of the peers where Alex won Jenni a stuffed Dog from one of the grab machines. This was of course named Brighton.

Friday was their last day before Jenni's flight, Alex actully went to some lectues foor a change! However he cooked Jenni a lovley romantic dinner that eveving. This consited of bacon warpped in chicken with garlic mash and lemon cheesecake as dessert. Despite Jenni not likling the wine they had a good time.

Their last day togther was diffuclt however they had decied that Alex would come and see her in the Summer once he had finished uni. Her flight wasn't until the evening so Alex met her at the hotel and they went back to his place to watch 'A Knights Tale' on DVD(it was a good thing they'd both seen it before). At the airport Jenni cried of course but they knew they'd see each other again and they did.
